Mesaieed plant is with its six sister trains make the Qatar Fertiliser Company the largest single-site producer of ammonia and urea in the world. EPC contract for QAFCO-VI expansion project was signed between QAFCO and a Saipem and Hyundai’s join venture. A complete urea plant, with a design capacity of 3,800 MTPD of urea, including a granulator unit with a design capacity of 3850 MTPD. A Complete urea granules storage with capacity of 175,000 metric tonnes and handling material system with capacity of 1,000 MTPH of urea granules.
Additional seawater cooling cells, steam and power generation facilities in addition to the ones already in the QAFCO-5 plant. Thus far, QAFCO has become the world’s largest single site urea producer after the inauguration of its 4th expansion of QAFCO-4 in April 2004 while QAFCO-6 project will increase the company’s annual production capacity of urea to 5.6 million metric tonnes.
